Blink has been developed by Terry Woodhouse of generation.NET limited, a website development company from Leicester. Terry began offering website development services to small businesses from all sectors in 2003.
Through the experience of friends and acquaintances in the world of optometry it became evident that there was room in the market for an easy to use Optician Management Software System. Consequently generationNET developed their first desktop based opticians software system, using Visual Basic, around 2005.
Following the relative success of the first PMS and with the advances in cloud based systems on the horizon, the natural development path, and the way forward for opticians software, was to develop a new online system – so BlinkOMS was created.
Blink was launched early in 2011 and has since been modified and refined, in response to comments and requests that have come from existing and prospective customers.

The development of Blink
2003 – GenerationNET Ltd formed by Terry Woodhouse. The business plan for the company was to provide internet based services to local companies throughout Leicestershire.
2005 – Terry was instrumental in the development of a desktop based Optician Management Software System for Opticians.
2011 – GenerationNET developed and launched Blink OMS – a brand new PMS using up-to-date, cloud based technologies.
2014 – Updates to Blink allow for its use overseas – and our first US customer starts using Blink at their practice in Ohio.
2018 – Steady growth has continued, mainly through word of mouth & internet searches. Blink is in a stable position and ready to serve more and more Opticians throughout the UK.
2019 – Blink is broken up into Blink Once, Blink Twice & Blink Again. This allows users to select an entry level system at a lower price if that suits their practice better.
2020-21 – During the global COVID pandemic Blink continued to thrive, doubling the number of users during this period. The ‘lockdown’ period was also when our eGOS functionality was developed and launched. This lead to thousands of GOS forms being submitted directly to PCSE from Blink.
2022-23 – Blink has now become Blink OMS. A single improved system with various optional extras.
2023-24 – Blink is delighted to become the only UK reseller of iziLookbook virtual glasses plugin.
2024 – The blink team has expanded and we have welcomed our newest team member Andrew Holloway-Breward in the role of Software Director
